Se em quinto lugar tivemos um filme que nos coloca para baixo, em quarto temos o filme mais positivista quando o assunto é relacionamento. Partimos de um encontro casual que, assim, se transforma em amizade. Harry e Sally são amigos íntimos, conversam todo dia, se encontram e debatem sobre o universo masculino e feminino como se não houvesse barreiras impostas pela diferença de gênero.
No entanto, um debate vem à tona: um homem e uma mulher podem ser amigos sem se envolverem? E o que antes era uma tese, Harry e Sally transformam em prática, e em questão de segundos, aqueles segundos que separavam o casal de amigos do casal de amantes acontece, e lá vamos nós acompanhar o desenrolar de um casal em um filme carinhoso de amor!
O filme é uma carta de amor ao relacionamento antigo, onde a convivência é mais forte que a maldade. Por isso, é um filme lindo para se apresentar a qualquer um, é uma experiência válida e condizente com a realidade: um filme de expectativas!
Cold War (2018) - 3º

Cold War é um filme de drama sobre um amor que nasce, se afasta, se encontra e acontece. É um filme de ódio, digo isso, pois ele odeia seus personagens, convida-os a conhecerem a felicidade e logo os afasta, e a troco de quê? E é nessa pergunta que entramos em seu diferencial: a guerra. A intervenção externa é essencial para que as duas almas apaixonadas se encontrem e se desencontrem ao longo do filme, e o que era um filme de guerra, sutilmente, se torna um filme de amor.
Há toda uma poesia em sua narrativa, o jeito com que Paweł Pawlikowski trabalha os momentos de angústia, dor e solidão em seus personagens. É doloroso, cru, e todo esse sentimento é o que instiga, o que faz com que nós desejemos que o amor vença a guerra. E no final, somos postos a amar em meio ao caos, tanto quanto aquele casal.
O filme é violento, talvez um pouco confuso à primeira vista, não é um filme fácil de entender e digerir, mas é recomendado para aqueles que buscam aprofundar minimamente o interesse no cinema, sendo até mesmo um fator comparativo para aqueles que levam o Oscar a sério.
Afternoon Breezes (1980) - 2º

Um filme de romance de progressão, onde o amor é visto como um impeditivo; consequentemente, aquela que ama precisa lutar contra os empecilhos, esses causados por um relacionamento. O filme é lindo ao tratar das situações vividas por uma garota lésbica, sendo a principal um tópico mais do que comum: a paixão por uma pessoa heterossexual.
Junto a isso, o longa é filmado de uma maneira tão carinhosa, abraça as personagens e, principalmente, respeita os desejos. A convivência, os olhares, tudo isso constrói detalhe por detalhe daquela relação que muitas vezes é perigosa e antiética, no entanto, é uma pauta que vai contra os tabus e principalmente contra o discurso ilusório de que pessoas LGBT são aceitas de uma forma, sendo completamente contrária na realidade.
Afternoon Breezes é recomendado para quem busca filmes fora do eixo americano, sendo um clássico japonês que trabalha o amor LGBT e suas dificuldades, além de ser um filme que ia contra a maré do romance hétero em ascensão nas comédias românticas!
A Short Film About Love (1988) - 1º

Da série de filmes Dekalog, Kieślowski transforma um dos episódios em filme. Nesse filme, uma relação platônica é a pauta principal, onde um jovem tímido e recluso se apaixona por uma mulher mais velha, sem nunca ter conversado com ela. E assim, após um primeiro contato, iniciamos uma jornada de desejo, prazer e idealização que consegue ser fictícia e real na mesma medida.
Em uma relação voyeur, o jovem é como se fosse um rapaz virgem no amor, no prazer, nas amizades: era um rapaz preso em seu próprio mundo, um ser sem personalidade, características... E enfim, ao se apaixonar, mal sabe o que quer, como quer e por que quer. Há o desejo, mas o desfecho é uma incógnita.
O filme é recomendado para todos que priorizam o romance como ferramenta narrativa, não como regra. Afinal, o horror psicológico desse filme é algo tão palpável, tão cru, que sofremos pelo personagem até mesmo por ser uma figura suspeita, pois nele notamos pureza, zero maldade... The beginning of a relationship is like a fairy tale: every kiss, every touch, and every moment shapes what we desire from a personal perspective and as a couple. In Blue Valentine, we see all this desire that emerges, takes shape, and, in the end, falls apart. The entire film is like couples therapy, where we follow the reasons why the relationship turns bitter with wear and tear, and how distance is as necessary as companionship.
Growing tired, waking up side by side—all of this requires care. And in a society where male well-being is the priority, women often become exhausted and feel more and more overwhelmed, resulting, finally, in this beautiful film where desire and pleasure become pain and suffering.
The film is definitely not easy to digest, nor is it a Sunday afternoon movie, but it is a fact that it is an anguishing and yet, passionate experience. It is a feature film that follows a relationship in a violent manner, with mistakes, successes, and consequences. Therefore, everyone, at some point in life, needs to experience the impact of Derek Cianfrance's work!

Harry and Sally are close friends; they talk every day, meet up, and debate the male and female universes as if there were no barriers imposed by gender differences.
However, a debate arises: can a man and a woman be friends without getting involved? And what was once a thesis, Harry and Sally put into practice. And in a matter of seconds, those seconds that separated the couple of friends from the couple of lovers vanish, and off we go to follow the unfolding of a couple in a tender love film!
The film is a love letter to old-fashioned relationships, where companionship is stronger than malice. That's why it's a beautiful film to show to anyone; it's a valid experience that is consistent with reality: a film of expectations!
Cold War (2018) - 3rd

Cold War is a drama film about a love that is born, drifts apart, meets again, and happens. It is a film of hate—I say this because it hates its characters, invites them to experience happiness and then pulls them away, and in exchange for what? And it is in this question that we find its differential: the war. External intervention is essential for the two soulmates to meet and lose each other throughout the film, and what was a war film subtly becomes a love story.
There is a whole poetry in its narrative, the way Paweł Pawlikowski works the moments of anguish, pain, and loneliness in his characters. It is painful, raw, and all this feeling is what instigates us, what makes us desire for love to win the war. And in the end, we are made to love amidst the chaos, just like that couple.
The film is violent, perhaps a bit confusing at first glance; it is not an easy film to understand and digest, but it is recommended for those who seek to minimally deepen their interest in cinema, even serving as a comparative factor for those who take the Oscars seriously.
Afternoon Breezes (1980) - 2nd

A progression romance film, where love is seen as an impediment; consequently, the one who loves must fight against the obstacles, these caused by a relationship. The film is beautiful in dealing with the situations experienced by a lesbian girl, the main one being a more than common topic: the crush on a heterosexual person.
Along with this, the feature film is shot in such a caring way; it embraces the characters and, most importantly, respects their desires. The coexistence, the glances—all of this builds detail by detail of that relationship which is often dangerous and unethical. However, it is an agenda that goes against taboos and especially against the illusory discourse that LGBT people are widely accepted, which is completely contrary to reality.
Afternoon Breezes is recommended for those looking for films outside the American axis, being a Japanese classic that deals with LGBT love and its difficulties, in addition to being a film that went against the tide of the rising heterosexual romance in romantic comedies!
A Short Film About Love (1988) - 1st

From the Dekalog film series, Kieślowski turned one of the episodes into a film. In this movie, a platonic relationship is the main subject, where a shy and reclusive young man falls in love with an older woman, having never even spoken to her. And so, after a first contact, we begin a journey of desire, pleasure, and idealization that manages to be both fictitious and real in equal measure.
In a voyeuristic relationship, the young man is like a virgin in love, in pleasure, in friendships: he was a boy trapped in his own world, a being without personality, characteristics... And finally, upon falling in love, he barely knows what he wants, how he wants it, or why he wants it. There is desire, but the outcome is an unknown.
The film is recommended for everyone who prioritizes romance as a narrative tool, not as a rule. After all, the psychological horror of this film is something so palpable, so raw, that we suffer for the character even though he is a suspicious figure, because in him we see purity, zero malice... Thus, a final tip: watch Dekalog, in it we can discover many other forms of romance!
